Holy Ghost Campground
The campground will be closed indefinately as the trucks which were to take the outhouse vault etc to the site exceed the bridge capacities and it appears the outhouses will have to be built onsite.

Trail, fishing and weather report
The trail from Hamilton Mesa down into Beatty's Flats has a complete fallen log blockage in the steepest part of the trail which even hikers can't navigate around. Please be advised to go into Beatty's through Jack's creek until further notice. Bob Grounds trail from Hamilton Mesa to Beatty's is open so while longer will eventually get you there if you are determined to go across Hamilton.

The trail from Jack's Creek Camp ground to Pecos Baldy has a few newly fallen trees on it but nothing that isn't easily navigated around. The trail is wet and boggy in the usual locations. And the Bighorn Sheep with lambs are in at the lake.

The waters are coming down and clearing after the intense week of rains. Rudy Baca of Glorieta caught a 26" 7lb 5.4 oz rainbow near the Jaime Koch/ Willow Creek area on the Pecos River using salmon eggs.

The weather was absolutely perfect today: lots of sun with white puffy clouds but no rain in sight until this evening with isolated showers.

weather and fishing report
We have had rain EVERY afternoon - the river is currently running at 700 cubic feet which is higher than the spring run off was. The water is very muddy making fishing a challenge but people are catching on average 10 inch rainbows on black ants and worms. We are supposed to have rain through the early part of next week... and then *crossing fingers* a bit of a drying spell!

Today the evening showers began about 4pm - flashflood warnings are in effect for the area.

The rain has been heavy and steady. If you come camping make sure to bring a tarp, and a shovel to dig a trench around your tent to keep the water from flooding it.

Lost Bear Lake
The Lost Bear Lake trail while not the super highway like Pecos Baldy or Pecos Falls is clear enough to get you to a little visited oasis in the wilderness. The emerald green of this small lake is completely different from others and while not a fish can be found the newts swimming about are entertaining for the young at heart. To see pictures of this lake go to our facebook page "Tererro Gsrs"

Weather and Fishing update
Although the past two days the thunderclouds built rapidly by 10 am and lightening, hail (1 1/2 inches recorded on Grass Mountain - and it turned Pecos Baldy compltetly white!)and rain occured, today the clouds quickly moved off to the east so the day turned very hot and dry by noon.

Small grasshoppers are visible in the meadows so soon the hopper flies will be the thing to use on the river for best results.

Campgrounds
The campgrounds as usual for the first part of the week are pretty light on campers although we have noticed a few trailer camper folk bringing in their campers to save their spots for the weekend.

Please be cautious coming up the canyon for the holiday as there are quite a few deer, and unobservant folks along the roadways.

Lake Katherine has a hanging log on the trail just as you branch off the main trail and head up as well as a log that is 18 inches off the ground but on the sttep side of the trail. The lake however is still impassible jsut below the lake due to heavy snow drifts which should be melted sufficiently to navigate around in about a week.

Fly fishing
The willow fly and stone fly hatches are just beginning to migrate up the canyon. They are currently at Dalton Canyon, where the fishing is excellant for small to 15 inches. "Sofa Pillow" flies are working well on the Dalton area waters. The waters have slowed enough for great fly fishing in the evenings and early mornings. Fishermen have pulled 22 and 23 inch browns from the Pecos River just above the Tererro General Store and below Willow Creek.
